2016 WJ Healy Stakes Ideal for That’s A Good Idea

June 22nd, 2016

Peter Snowden is pleased with classy sprinter That’s A Good Idea leading into his black type return on Saturday, and is confident the horse is a good chance of success in the 2016 Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm Racecourse.

That’s A Good Idea began his racing career under the guidance of Mark De Montfort in 2012; passing through the care of Joe Pride on his way to Team Snowden and posting a commendable nine wins and twelve minors through thirty-five starts.

Having lugged a race-high 62kgs to success in the Wilson Asset Management Handicap (1100m) at Randwick last time out on May 28th, Snowden is confident the gelding will relish a step back to 59.5kgs and will relish the conditions of the 2016 WJ Healy Stakes.

“That’s A Good Idea comes off a strong win on an unsuitable track and he carried 62kgs and won,” Snowden told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“He beat some handy horses in the process and he is in good order.”

Snowden and co-trainer son Paul have led the ‘Super Six Trainers’ Challenge’ throughout the entire Brisbane Winter Carnival so far, and Peter is hopeful some good chances on Saturday’s 2016 Tattersall’s Tiara Day will see the team hold on for victory.

“We’re running out of ammo but we have three nice hopes in on Saturday and what will be, will be,” Snowden said.

That’s A Good Idea produced a number of typically smart efforts through the 2015 Spring Carnival; most notably third in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) and close second behind stable mate Dothraki in the Listed Lightning (1100m).

Resuming this time for eighth in the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m), the Flying Spur gelding progressed to third in the Listed Ortensia Stakes (1100m), in what was his only other start prior to his recent return to winning form.
